Training Philosophy

Take your car to a mechanic and all of a sudden the car is running smoothly. Take your dog to a trainer and the dog turns into an angel. We can’t count how many times we’ve heard “Our dog is perfect when the trainer is around, but as soon as he or she leaves, our dog regresses.”

Our training philosophy is a simple one at WalkyWalk: Mold owners into dog trainers. Without a properly educated owner, the chances of successfully training or rehabilitating a dog to his/her full potential, and sustaining the changes, are greatly diminished. On the other hand, if the owner is knowledgeable and knows how to effectively communicate with the dog the potential is unlimited.

Our training is based on a dog’s natural motivation for food, toys, and praise. Correctly motivating your dog is one of the most important components to dog training. Without motivation, nothing drives the dog to learn. Through our one-on-one approach, we give every owner the individual attention and time necessary to learn to effectively and confidently handle their dogs in ANY situation, on or off leash. We train your dog in his or her natural surroundings to ensure your dog listens where it counts. Whether in Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Brookline, Cambridge, South End, or South Boston, we’ll come to you.
